In this unit students will look at various texts about marine conservation and in particular marine debris, to develop an awareness of how they can contribute to conserving the marine environment. Students will analyse various media texts, such as posters and video advertisements in order to determine messages conveyed and how the responder is positioned to adopt certain ideas and take action. Students will learn how to create texts that borrow from other texts and use stimulus to create imaginative texts, such as Dreamtime stories and manga that convey possibilities in relation to marine conservation.
