In this unit of work students will analyse a variety of visual and written humorous texts from different time periods. They will analyse and evaluate short stories, poetry, media texts, television shows and film extracts for their comic effects. Students will develop an understanding of how the audience and purpose of humorous texts affects meaning and how humorous texts make social commentary. Students will become familiar with types of humour and how humour is created in and through texts through visual and written techniques. Students will develop skill in listening and complete a listening task as an assessment as well as write a script for either an existing or new sitcom.
