Whether writing for the education market is something you would like to do part time or full time, this comprehensive and interactive course is all you need to start earning an income from your creativity.
I will take you through the process of creating your own education online book business for your area of interest. You could write for any subject area, for example, English, Science or Mathematics.
The information you will learn in this course will save you an enormous amount of time and money.
This course focuses on using the internet to promote your self-published ebooks and print books, but will also look at other options available to you, such as publishing with an established publisher.
This course is hands on. I take you through the development a business plan, including marketing strategies, creating a website and managing your business.
Course Outcomes
By the end of the course, you will:
- develop a concept/idea for your business
- create a Basic Business Plan
- write a Website Plan
- develop knowledge of writing, editing, formatting and publishing website content
- choose marketing strategies, including Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), for your website
- create a Social Media Plan and campaign
- develop strategies for managing your business
- develop network opportunities with colleagues
- identify some psychological barriers to creating and promoting your resources and possible strategies for overcoming them
- obtain a database of contacts for websites, writing, marketing, business information and industry contacts
- obtain links to industry experts.
Course Outline
The course comprises of four parts and each part is broken up into one to two topics, which address the process for developing an education self-publishing business and includes:
Part 1 – Business Plan
- Topic 1: Snapshot of the education publishing industry & product description
- Topic 2: Writing a Basic Business Plan
Part 2 – Creating Your Website
- Topic 3: Website design & Writing a Website Plan
Part 3 – Marketing Strategies
- Topic 4: Advertising and promotion
- Topic 5: Social Media Plan
Part 4 – Managing your business
- Topic 6: Legal matters, overcoming emotional barriers & industry contacts
Course requirements
In order to successfully complete the course, you are required to complete the following:
- Write a Business Plan
- Write a Website Plan
- Write a Social Media Plan.
A Certificate of Achievement will be issued once the course is complete. The facilitator will work with writers closely to produce a high-quality Business Plan, Website Plan and Social Media Plan.
Who is the course for?
The course is for all teachers, including pre-school, primary, secondary and tertiary teachers, specialising in all subject areas. If you have been creating education resources for your students or faculty and you think they could be of benefit to other students and teachers, then this course is for you. You may also have a particular product that you wish to promote and sell on your website. In other words, you don’t have to create the education products like Qwiller does. However, if you would like to publish ebooks or print books, you might like to complete the Writing an English Education Book Online Course. This course can be adapted to suit other subject areas other than English, upon request.
How the online course is delivered
This online course is for teachers who would prefer the flexibility of working through the course at their own pace. The facilitator (Shelley McNamara) will work with you individually and cater for your specific needs, interests and vision.
We use Moodle for our Learning Management Systems (LMS) to communicate ideas, provide relevant information and practical activities and give you access to peer-related forums. We also use a mixture of video, web and audio files, interactive activities and pdfs to deliver content.
This online course is completely self-directed. You may complete the course over the duration of the course (6 weeks) or quicker if preferred. We recommend 3–3 ½ hours per week be spent on the course. You will have writing activities to complete each week, plus 3 assessments that will be reviewed by the facilitator. Written feedback will be given as well to assist you in developing a quality self-publishing education business.
Once payment is received, you will receive a welcome letter via a link in your order confirmation email. You can also access this link when you log into your Qwiller account.
Your log in details will be emailed to you two days before the course begins.
Online forum
An online forum is available for writers enrolled in the course to communicate with other writers in the course.
